Lisa Unger has some magic because I do not know how she puts out a thriller each year!Last Girl Ghosted is a solid thriller about Wren Greenwood, a woman with a traumatic past who writes the Dear Birdie advice column anonymously。 Wren’s bff Jax convinces Wren to sign up for Torch, an online dating site, and she meets Adam and falls hard。 Then, she’s ghosted。 Not just no return call, nothing -no digital footprint。 Turns out she’s not the only one looking for Adam。I didn’t love this book, nor did Lisa Unger has some magic because I do not know how she puts out a thriller each year!Last Girl Ghosted is a solid thriller about Wren Greenwood, a woman with a traumatic past who writes the Dear Birdie advice column anonymously。 Wren’s bff Jax convinces Wren to sign up for Torch, an online dating site, and she meets Adam and falls hard。 Then, she’s ghosted。 Not just no return call, nothing -no digital footprint。 Turns out she’s not the only one looking for Adam。I didn’t love this book, nor did I dislike it (mostly because of Lisa Unger’s writing。)。 No eye rolls from me, but I guessed some of the twist。 Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️: I dont regret reading it, but I wouldn’t recommend it。 I think a lot of people will like this one based on the writing and the plot—it hasn’t been done。 Although it contains some plot lines that I don’t care for。 No spoilers though。 。。。more

This is a twisted and disturbing story; about family, love and mental health。Wren, our main character, has started dating again but with not much luck until she mets Adam。 He seems the perfect guy for her, charming, in love and with similar tastes to her。 But, when 3 months after start dating he disappears, Wren doesn’t know what to think。 Has she been ghosted or something has happened to Adam? Of course, when a PI appears at her door asking questions about Adam, Wren doesn’t know what to think and who to trust, so, she will start to search for the answers by herself putting her life at risk。Wren seems a nice woman, but she has a past that conditions each one of her movements。 I am not saying as a fault but a way to understand her and her thoughts; I really don’t think I would trust anyone after her past or act “normal” in any way。As I said, this is a disturbing read; but a way to make the reader believe that we all have problems and a past and the only way to continue living is to confront our fears and be true to ourselves。The story is told between two different story lines; the past with Wren childhood and the present how she has accepted her past and tries to be happy。This is a slow paced story, because some things can’t be rushed and should be told in their own time。Maybe you’ll love this book, maybe you’ll hate it; but it will make you think about different themes and how they can affect us and how we can help people around us with mental health issues。Are you ready to discover “Last Girl Ghosted”? 。。。more

This book was interesting - I liked the premise and I did get into the story and I liked how it flowed between the two different locations。 It did make sense and answered a lot of the questions that I had at the beginning。 I was given an advance copy by netgalley and publishers but the review is entirely my own。

I loved this book! This was so beautifully written that I could actually hear and see all the descriptions the author provided。 The storyline was also relevant to our modern online dating age and this book is a real page-turner。 I couldn't understand some of the main character's decisions, which was frustrating, but I guess if she had made smarter decisions, the ending wouldn't have unfolded as it did。 I did notice typos throughout the book, but it didn't hinder my enjoyment of this novel。 I wou I loved this book! The first third of the novel was promising, but after that, it lost focus。 Sprawling over several timelines, multiple subplots and social issues, too many characters to keep track of, and as if all that were not enough to distract the reader, the MC behaves in improbable and foolhardy ways。 The thriller/suspense aspect was diluted for me。 By the end, I was simply glad the book was over。Let me summarize my history with Ms。 Unger's work。 I really enjoyed her books many years ago when she began pub The first third of the novel was promising, but after that, it lost focus。 Sprawling over several timelines, multiple subplots and social issues, too many characters to keep track of, and as if all that were not enough to distract the reader, the MC behaves in improbable and foolhardy ways。 The thriller/suspense aspect was diluted for me。 By the end, I was simply glad the book was over。Let me summarize my history with Ms。 Unger's work。 I really enjoyed her books many years ago when she began publishing thriller/suspense novels。 Horror is not my reading jam, so when her books switched to that genre, I took a break。 Her return in recent years to her original genre was welcomed and I have enjoyed several of these。 This one was a miss for me。 Here's hoping her next is a better fit。 。。。more

I got past the preachy "take care of Mother Earth" lectures with a few eye rolls but found, for the most part a page turner of a book。 That is, until about 3/4 of the way through。 I asked why would a book that wants promotes that women are strong have the main character whining and chasing after a man that ghosted her? The main female lead in this book has already gone through so much in her life, it feels unreal that someone would go out of their way to stalk her down and hurt her again。 The twisted male characters really do make you sick。 The struggles of mental health and lack of support are highlighted, but not necessary addressed。 A very twisted tale。

What a masterpiece of writing。 Not so much a thriller as a journey through a dark period of a young woman's life both present and past。 So well written, a true page turner and very hard to put down。The meaning of family, of love, of friendships and the greater community all explored。 All set in the time of the emergence of COVID which is skillfully woven into the story。Just an incredible read from start to finish。 Lots to take away from this book。 What a masterpiece of writing。 Not so much a thriller as a journey through a dark period of a young woman's life both present and past。 So well written, a true page turner and very hard to put down。The meaning of family, of love, of friendships and the greater community all explored。 All set in the time of the emergence of COVID which is skillfully woven into the story。Just an incredible read from start to finish。 Lots to take away from this book。 。。。more

Does she actually believe the disturbing things that Bailey tells her about the man she had fallen in love with? And what happens if she finds him?The story is told in a first-person narrative that is addressed to Adam, which sometimes makes for momentary confusion, but ultimately works well。 While Wren is a protagonist with whom many readers can empathise, it’s disappointing that Unger inserts her into that overdone trope of naïve arrogance where she enters an almost-certainly dangerous situation alone, without any protection or means of summoning help, and without telling anyone what she is doing。 Sure, it does later allow her to be kick-ass, but it’s getting a little tired。However, she does give the reader a gripping thriller, the bones of which are easily believable: the potential dangers of online dating are well-documented。 There’s plenty of enjoyable banter between friends, some good detective work, and a few action scenes in the lead-up to a nail-biting climax (or two)。 The support characters are an appealing bunch that Wren is lucky to have beside her。 A guaranteed page-turner。This unbiased review is from an uncorrected proof copy provided by NetGalley and HQ Fiction。 。。。more

Definitely a couple of pot holes, but all in all it was decent。 I liked the story, I just felt there were too many POVs and nonsensical actions by some of the characters I also thought there would be more suspense (there was in the beginning and end but the middle dragged on and on…)。 At times I appreciated the complexity of the relationships however, 3 stars。

Lisa Unger's books can be hit or miss for me。 Last Girl Ghosted was a book that had a good premise, but for some reason never really clicked with me。 I'm not sure if it was the POV the book was told in, mainly with Wren talking to "You" (aka Adam), or if it was something else。 I also never really understood why women were so taken with 'Adam' and followed him blindly because according to Wren there was nothing special about him。 Very confusing and bothered me even after I finished this book。 Ove Lisa Unger's books can be hit or miss for me。 Last Girl Ghosted was a book that had a good premise, but for some reason never really clicked with me。 I'm not sure if it was the POV the book was told in, mainly with Wren talking to "You" (aka Adam), or if it was something else。 I also never really understood why women were so taken with 'Adam' and followed him blindly because according to Wren there was nothing special about him。 Very confusing and bothered me even after I finished this book。 Overall, it was a good story, but the execution just didn't work for me。 。。。more
